1938 MULLINS SEA EAGLE

1938 MULLINS SEA EAGLE   These boats were once very popular pre-World War II and were made with a special type of coated steel to resist rust (see article in pictures).  They had a special ‘scalloped’ style bottom and most had solid color paint jobs often two tone (see example pictures).  This one is the later style with the higher freeboard and is about 15.5′ long.  Engines were Lycoming Flathead 4 cyl’s of 40-60 hp. This is the higher horsepower version and turns over but has not been run.  Unfortunately although thousands were made most ended up on the scrap heap to salvage their metal content for the war.  Very few have survived. This particular one made its way up to British Columbia at some point in it’s life and was modified slightly from it’s original runabout style (with engine hatches) and converted to a utility style with a dog house over the engine.  They also changed out the automotive type steering to a more modern (likely 60’s) cable steering setup.  Other than that it is amazingly complete and includes the art deco style Sea Eagle bow cap and rare Lycoming supplied gauge panel in original condition.  Any missing parts are reasonably easy to source which we can assist with of course.

This would make an ideal project for someone who is looking for a pre-war boat to go with a similar aged car or someone with auto body experience as the hull is steel and requires some dent repairs and fabrication of replacement engine hatches.  Engine, Gauge Panel and Sea Eagle hardware alone is worth the asking price.
